Phara Luxama

When I came to this country, I knew English a little bit, but it's my second language. I had my dreams and goals to move forward and learn from this country. My first job was as a housekeeper because I didn't know enough English. While working as a housekeeper, I went to school and got my associate degree in business management. I took one step at a time within the company, becoming a housekeeping leader where I worked with many housekeepers and handled guest calls. I also worked as a custodial housekeeping manager. I had the chance to teach classes for the same company, training people when they first came to the company and teaching them about the company culture. After that, I moved to the front desk, and now I'm in HR as a recruiter. I've been with the company for 19 years total, and in the recruiting field for three and a half years. What I'm doing right now is one of my goals because I love talking to people and engaging with people and going out in the community. I work remotely and also go out to community events where we meet so many different cultures at military and career fairs, trade schools, and non-profits. We encourage people to consider our company, and we also do resume writing skills and interviewing skills training. When I'm not out in the community, I do interviews on Zoom, follow up with candidates, and answer emails.
