Phoebe Lewis

I currently work in revenue collections as the supervisor over the enforcement department, where I'm enforcing government collections for business revenues. This means implementing and enforcing any sales and use tax and occupational license checks. When any business is not complying, I enforce the matter of them needing to report and pay taxes for the city government. I've been in this enforcement manager role for about 2 years, and I started off as an auditor, auditing businesses to make sure they were reporting the correct tax. Now I'm on the other end of it, enforcing what they need to pay. After graduating with my master's in accounting, I sought better employment and was hired as an auditor assistant in the beginning, back in 2017. From there, I've moved through city government really fast to become a supervisor. I have a huge financial background from being in banking for so long, and becoming an auditor for businesses opened up my eyes and put my education into full perspective from grade school to now, because everything comes into play. I was always a math whiz, so that always had me aspiring to be an accountant, to manage numbers and to look into stuff. My education gave me the legwork, the manual aspect of it, versus real life situations where I was able to implement those lessons.
