Phylisa Dever
Phylisa Dever is an entrepreneur, business owner, and motivational speaker based in Orlando, Florida, who leads multiple ventures including her long-standing company Kingdom Communications. With more than two decades of experience in business ownership, she has built and managed organizations spanning construction, communications, real estate, and wellness services. Her work reflects a strong focus on operations management, customer service, and business development, grounded in her background in computer information technology.
Over the course of her career, Phylisa has grown from hands-on administrative and customer-facing roles into a multi-business owner and strategic leader. She began Kingdom Communications with a small personal investment and steadily expanded it into a long-running enterprise while also developing additional companies such as PMD Services LLC and commercial real estate ventures. What do you attribute your success to?
The key to my success, I have to say, is God. He keeps helping me and my husband to stay grounded together as partners, and as we do that, things have really taken off. I would have never dreamed 23 years ago that I'd be living like I am today, traveling to some of the places I've been. I was just in Istanbul before I went to Africa, and it's just amazing to see different regions, different countries, and all the places I've traveled. Working together with my husband as partners has been essential - we support each other and stay grounded in our faith, and that foundation has allowed our businesses to flourish beyond what I could have imagined.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be honest and maintain strong character in everything you do, because your reputation is built on consistency and integrity. Always do what you say you will, and if circumstances change, communicate openly and follow up rather than leaving others uncertain or unsupported.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges right now is balancing limited marketing budgets while trying to promote multiple businesses effectively and sustainably. At the same time, there are strong opportunities in expanding speaking engagements and podcast reach, as well as increasing bookings and monetization through broader digital distribution and audience growth.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, character, and being honest are very important to me in business and in my whole life, period. You just be honest with people, you walk in character, do what you say when you say it. If you can't do what you say, come back and talk to people, just don't leave people hanging, because that makes you look like you're lying. I'm very big on that, and don't waste my time, because I will not waste your time. These values guide everything I do, both professionally and personally.
