Her Interview

Ten minutes with Phyllis

01What do you attribute your success to?

Having really good mentors and really good bosses that mentor you along the way, and just doing the right thing, living in intent versus ego.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The only constant thing in life is change. You can't be stuck in your ways, you gotta get out of your comfort zone, and you always gotta be ready to pivot.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

To earn respect and not demand it, and to always go the extra mile. That extra mile is good for your confidence and your ability to contribute not only to your career but to the community. For all the blessings that we give, then we have to give back in some way.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The opportunities are for women to be more influential in their career path and learning how to deal with different personalities and not getting emotionally wrapped up in things. Not letting your decisions be based on emotions but based on logic and what's the best intent for the company.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Doing the right thing, living in integrity, and not allowing other people to tell you the way you should be or act.
