About Pilar
Pilar Alvarez Perez is an International Relations and Security specialist with expertise in the Middle East, North Africa (MENA), and Latin America. Her academic and professional background combines regional studies, foreign policy, governance, and security with advanced training in Crime Analysis, enabling her to approach complex international challenges through both strategic and data-driven perspectives. Passionate about institutional processes, multilateral cooperation, and evidence-based policymaking, she has developed a reputation for analytical rigor and cross-cultural competence in international academic and professional environments.
Pilar earned a Bachelor of Arts in Middle Eastern and North African Studies from Boston University before completing a Master of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Crime Analysis at Boston University Metropolitan College, graduating with a 3.9 GPA. During her graduate research, she conducted quantitative and qualitative analyses using SPSS, Power BI, and ArcGIS, performed spatial and trend analyses on security-related datasets, and produced structured reports aligned with policy and risk assessment frameworks. She currently serves as a Project Analyst at Grupo Pértiga, where she applies her research, analytical, and problem-solving skills to support project initiatives and strategic decision-making.
Beyond her academic and professional accomplishments, Pilar's experience as a collegiate field hockey athlete and organizational leader has strengthened her leadership, resilience, teamwork, and time management skills. Balancing the demands of high-level athletics with rigorous academic programs earned her multiple Patriot League Academic Honor Roll recognitions and leadership responsibilities within her team. Fluent in multiple languages and shaped by international education, Pilar brings discipline, adaptability, and a global perspective to her work, making her well-equipped to address today's evolving international security and governance challenges.
