About Pinky

She oversees teams of 10 to 15 professionals based in India while conducting BIM coordination meetings across trades including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection. Her educational background includes her architecture degree from India, community college courses to understand U.S. construction practices, and a UC Berkeley Extension program in construction management. She also holds LEED GA Green Associate certification. Pinky attributes her success to hard work and a willingness to learn, and she actively participates in networking through groups such as Women in Construction.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Pinky

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my hard work and willingness to learn. When an opportunity comes, grab it and don't hesitate. You may fail or succeed, but take the opportunity because it comes rarely.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Many women hesitate to come to the construction industry because it's male-dominated, but I've felt comfortable. Foremen, project managers, and clients are helpful. Listen, give respect, and there's no distinction between woman or man. More women should come into this field and not get intimidated.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Wear a hard hat, put your boots on. If you're interested and passionate, don't hesitate. Come in, work as a journeyman, work your way up. Get field experience from virtual design to actual construction. It's exciting from paper to the field.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

You have to be honest. Value and distinguish personal and work timing, don't mix them. When at work, focus fully, and after work hours family life is important. Give equal importance to both.
