Her Story
About Pippa
I have been working as an economist since 1983. I travel around the world to give speeches and advise leaders of government and heads of corporations. I have a company called the Geopolitica Institute with corporate clients interested in the macroeconomic landscape. I also write books and have a Substack followership.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Pippa
01What do you attribute your success to?
The ability to take complex realities and distill them into understandable stories. Most economists try to explain things with numbers but I think it's more effective to explain things with stories.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Barbara Thomas Judge told me that I could have a baby and have a great career. It was just a management question rather than a choice. And that if I started my own company it would be much easier.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
You just have to really love what you do. If you love what you do, you'll do it better than the others who don't. The thing is to figure out what do you think is really fun and interesting, and then do that, and usually the money will follow.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I'm super psyched about the ability of artificial intelligence to create businesses and cash flows. I see a world where individuals are going to have an army of AI agents and increasingly robotics that will work for them. It will be very empowering.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I'm interested in the unique value that each person has and find these ways for the world economy to reward that.
