About Piya
Piya Dey is a senior product development and operations leader in the beauty and personal care industry. With 21 years of experience across various corporations and brands, she began her career in technical and engineering roles before transitioning through operations, manufacturing, procurement, and sourcing positions. For the past 13 years, she has focused on new product development, working directly with brand leaders from concept to consumer launch. She currently leads the skincare new product development team for Clinique at Estee Lauder Companies. Piya holds an MBA in Marketing from Cornell University, where she was a Forte Fellow, and she previously earned an engineering degree. She is passionate about mentoring and has served as an MBA coach for the Forte Foundation while supporting recruiting efforts at Cornell and other universities.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I think for me, especially as a woman in an industry that is predominantly women at the employee level but male at leadership, be confident in what you know and your expertise. Voice it and use the power of influence with your expertise to drive change. That has gotten me to a leadership role.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Learn your craft and build the knowledge and expertise in your function to build credibility amongst peers and leaders. Build relationships with cross-functionals, leaders, and peers. Hone your craft, earn the credibility, and build networks so leaders give you visibility to move into leadership positions.
