About Pranjali

Pranjali Sanwal is an emerging cybersecurity professional, student leader, and incoming Computer Engineering student at Virginia Tech. She currently serves as a Solutions Engineering Intern at Claroty, where she contributes to projects involving operational technology (OT) security, automation, deployment optimization, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity solutions. Alongside her internship, she conducts research at the Virginia Tech Institute for Advanced Computing and has developed expertise in cybersecurity, AI, data analytics, and networking technologies.

Throughout high school, Pranjali demonstrated exceptional leadership by serving as President of her school's Cyber Club, where she expanded cybersecurity education through capture-the-flag competitions, AI workshops, certification training, and student mentoring. She is also the founder and student director of Cyber Summit, a student-led cybersecurity conference that provides hands-on learning experiences, technical workshops, and networking opportunities for aspiring cybersecurity professionals. Her dedication to advancing cybersecurity education earned her selection as one of only five students recognized during the 2026 Virginia Cyber Signing Day. She also holds industry-recognized DataCamp certifications in Data Literacy (Credential ID: DL0034408417928) and AI Fundamentals (Credential ID: AIF0020113265984).

Beyond her academic and technical pursuits, Pranjali is passionate about expanding access to cybersecurity education and increasing opportunities for future generations of technology professionals. She volunteers at a local community kitchen, mentors fellow students, and is working to establish Cyber Summit as a nonprofit organization to broaden cybersecurity outreach throughout Virginia and beyond. As a strong advocate for women in technology, she encourages others to overcome imposter syndrome, embrace lifelong learning, and confidently pursue careers in cybersecurity while making meaningful contributions to their communities.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Pranjali

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

One of the most valuable lessons I have learned is not to let imposter syndrome define my potential. Even though I am often the youngest person or the only woman in the room, I remind myself that I earned my place through my abilities and hard work. Rather than questioning whether I belong, I focus on the value I can contribute and the unique perspective I bring to every opportunity.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women to believe in their abilities and never let being the youngest or the only woman in the room discourage them. You deserve a seat at the table, and your perspective has value. Focus on your strengths, continue learning, and contribute with confidence instead of doubting whether you belong.
