About Prathima
Prathima S. is a physician with 27 years of experience in healthcare who brings clinical expertise to technology leadership. She joined AWS in 2019, initially supporting academic medical centers and building partner ecosystems. She now serves as Chief Medical Information Officer, running the Agentic AI business for Healthcare and Life Sciences globally. Her main areas of expertise are healthcare and technology, specifically Agentic AI and applied AI. She earned her MHA from the University of Washington, Seattle, and was selected as one of the top 25 emerging leaders at Amazon AWS. Prathima attributes her success to mentors, sponsors, team collaboration, and the support of her husband, who encouraged her to explore technology beyond patient care.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I would say it always, you know, you have so many mentors, sponsors along the way, you need a village to be successful, and for me, it's always been like, team collaboration, working, you know, together, bringing... doing the things, the right things, you know? As much as I would love to take personally that I've done all this on myself, but I would always thank myself for all the blessings that's come along the way. I've had some amazing mentors, and sponsors along the way who helped me get to where I am.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I would say it's my husband. Because he was the one who motivated me that I should explore technology, because initially, when I was a physician, you know, I was only thinking about patient care. I would not have extended my arms beyond. So he let me allow me to show some of my strengths to go beyond, above and beyond, so I think he's been my biggest champion, or a sponsor, I should say, yeah.
