Her Story
About Pratiksha
I began my career in India approximately 7 years ago as a data analyst, drawn to the field because I was fascinated by how numbers could tell stories and influence business decisions. I worked across multiple domains including real estate and technical consulting, where I provided clients with market insights, customer sentiment analysis, pricing strategies, and trend analysis for product launches. The biggest transformation in my career came when I decided to move to the United States to pursue my Master's in business analytics. This move meant starting over in a new culture with new expectations and standards, which was humbling but ultimately strengthened me and opened up new perspectives on data analysis and women in tech. I learned that here, it's not just about what position you're in, but what impact you can make. For the past 14 months, I've been working at US Express, a trucking company, in the logistics domain. My role is a perfect blend of technical and business-oriented work. About 50% of my time is spent behind the scenes using MySQL and Snowflake to build data pipelines and migrate reports from Power BI to Tableau. The other 50% involves discussing with stakeholders to understand their problem areas, building reports to help them make impactful decisions, and training them so they can use the information independently. My expertise lies in using multiple tools and technologies like machine learning, AI, Power BI, Tableau, and SQL, combined with domain understanding, to solve stakeholder problems. One of my most notable achievements was being part of a project in India where I used market insights and technical expertise to help a client achieve 50% better ROI than their previous project. What drives me is not just surviving in a new system, but shaping it and having a seat at the table where I can contribute ideas confidently and influence outcomes.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to not just surviving in a new system, but actively shaping it. To me, success means having a seat at the table and contributing ideas confidently. Building a career and earning degrees was nice, but what really resonates with me is being able to contribute something that actually influences the outcome. It's about making an impact that matters, not just going through the motions. That's what drives me and what I consider true success.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell younger women that building a career, earning degrees, and creating security in a new country where you migrate - that stability feels like the first victory, and it is important. But success is deeper than that. Don't chase around the numbers. Be consistent. I truly believe that consistency and discipline will eventually drive confidence and get you the success you're looking for. It's not just about the achievements on paper, but about building something sustainable that gives you real confidence in your abilities.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge in my current role is that logistics is not a very straightforward domain - there are multiple aspects of it. Because we are short-staffed, I have the opportunity to work with multiple domains beyond just logistics, including operations, sales, pricing, and planners. This gives me a great opportunity to learn, but the challenge is that I have to learn all these different aspects of the domain in order to help these stakeholders effectively. I definitely look at it as a learning opportunity though, even when it's challenging.
