Her Story

About Pratiksha

I started my career as a consultant, learning to hit the ground running and deliver results quickly. I've carried that mindset into full-time roles in fintech, SMBs, and marketplaces, most recently as Head of Product at Thumbtack. My education includes a bachelor's in electronics and communication from Sardar Patel University in 2005, and I've supplemented my learning by teaching at Product School early in my product management career. I attribute much of my growth to mentors and learning by doing while navigating complex corporate dynamics.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Pratiksha

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to learning by observing and getting coached. I've observed individuals who navigated corporate dynamics beautifully and reached out to them for coaching on how to move forward while navigating murky situations.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

My first manager taught me that if you're doing something and it is difficult, that's the best opportunity to make it easy for everyone else. Figure out how to make it easy. This has shaped my approach to product management.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be persistent. Do not sell yourself short. If there isn't a seat at the table for you, create one.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge and opportunity is the AI revolution, similar to the Industrial Revolution. Those who lean in and learn to work with AI will succeed. It's now easier than ever to build something yourself, opening doors for entrepreneurship and startups.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Staying ethical is the first thing. Being a good person matters. I believe in doing something that helps others and brings about an impact. Any revenue or money that follows is a side effect of the impact you created.
