Her Story

About Precious

I've been in HR for over 20 years, starting back in 2003. Throughout my career, I've worked in all aspects of HR including recruiting, social relations, and benefits, but my true passion has always been training and development. That passion led me to launch BHS Consulting Firm, where we identify leadership gaps in organizations and create customized training programs. Our focus is on retaining employees, building morale, lowering turnover, and increasing engagement. We help organizations determine if they have the right people in the right roles, do succession planning, and then develop hands-on workshops to address those leadership gaps. What makes our approach different is the follow-up - we create 30, 60, or 90-day plans because training without consistency means people fall back into old ways. I became a certified life coach because I wanted to be a different kind of HR professional, one that people aren't afraid of, and I wanted to truly understand why people do what they do. What I find most rewarding is seeing people realize the potential they have within themselves and watching them grow and flourish, whether that's a warehouse worker becoming a supervisor and eventually a director, or someone simply learning a new skill. For me, it's about being that support system and helping people grow within the parameters they want to grow.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Whatever you put your mind to, you can do it. Sometimes you might need a mentor, sometimes you might need a coach, someone that's going to hold you accountable. But really take action and don't be fearful - I think that's what delays everybody from going after their dreams. So what if you mess up? Sometimes we have to mess up a couple times, but it's not about messing up or failing, it's really about learning, it's a learning opportunity. I always say that you have to try quite a few different things before we really settle into ourselves and learn what we're really passionate about.
