Her Story

About Precious

I've been in the empowerment space for over a decade and a half, training and developing as well as speaking in all sorts of places, whether that be nonprofits, ministries, church, or for-profit organizations. I speak on confidence, self-awareness, and leadership. I have a background in social work and different certifications in coaching and leadership that have helped guide the way for me. My experiences definitely speak for themselves as one who's had to advocate for herself through and through, being a woman that looks like me in spaces that didn't always look like me or represent me. I participated in Les Brown's Power Voice during the pandemic, and there I was selected as one of the top 20 speakers for his program, and went on to host a couple of his sessions as well. That really broke the door down for me and helped me understand who I was, who I am, and who I'm becoming.

Ten minutes with Precious

01What do you attribute your success to?

Honestly, my faith has been a driving factor of why I do, don't do, go, don't go. And then people who have mentored me along the way, who have reminded me of who I am, poured into me, showed me the way, and given me permission to be myself unapologetically. My faith has been a driving factor, and having mentors who showed me the way and gave me permission to be authentic has been crucial to my success.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Maintain your personal focus. There's gonna be a lot of things going around you, there's gonna be a lot of things happening, but it's important and imperative that you maintain your personal focus. How you rise, your resilience, how you move forward. I've gotten a lot of advice through the years, but maintaining your personal focus has been one that has really undergirded me.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Go first. Sometimes we wait on others to show us the way, give us permission to be, give us permission to show up, give us permission to walk in the room in the space. Go first. Put yourself out there. Don't be afraid, you never know who might be inspired by you being a risk-taker, being a go-getter. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there, and ask for what you want, because you never know who's gonna be willing to give it to you.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I would say having more people take up the space and realize that they need to utilize their voice, that they have what it takes. There are opportunities for people to understand that they have what it takes. Most of the time, people don't walk in their voice and use their strengths because they don't believe the spaces are created for them. So there's opportunity for more voices, more people to empower others, strengthen others, coach others, develop others. There are opportunities for more people to be called in to use their voice.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, honesty, courage, and authenticity are the values most important to me in my work and personal life.
