Her Interview

Ten minutes with Prisca

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success really centers around my faith which anchors me. My upcoming book "Refined & Refueled for Purpose" highlights how my faith continues to anchor me during storms of life. Also it is my cultural upbringing, family and the community that raised me and the values they cultivated in me from a young age. My love for reading also exposes me to people's life stories that motivate me.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I received was from a state representative during my graduate studies. She told me do not let any of these people intimidate you. The difference between you and them is that they have been doing this for a long time and you are just beginning. So hold your head high and know that you too one day you will have the experience and confidence that makes them do what they do.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Always remember that love conquers all. It starts with loving yourself. If you love yourself and want the best for yourself that is going to help you persevere through anything. Remember love always wins or love conquers all. Never quit because life awaits. Keep persevering.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The main challenge is that higher education and our profession are part of a world that has become a bid stage where everybody seems to be in performance mode, dancing to a tune that portrays the image of alignment with what is currently trending. As such we are making limited progress forward as we do not have deep values that can withstand opposition.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Love is my number one core value approaching everything anchored in love. Second is congruency or authenticity which aligns with integrity. Being who you are and being true to who you are because in the end you have got to live with yourself. I am a person of faith and believe that to thrive and live long, I must choose love over and over.
