Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to consistency, adaptability, and a deep respect for responsibility. Working at the intersection of language, healthcare, and patient advocacy requires precision and accountability, and I take that seriously. Over the years, I’ve learned that showing up prepared, listening carefully, and doing the work thoroughly builds trust, and trust opens doors. I’ve also never stopped learning, which has allowed me to grow alongside the people and systems I serve.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

“Be excellent at what you do, even when no one is watching.”

That advice stayed with me because long-term success isn’t built on visibility alone, but on reliability and integrity. When your work speaks for itself, recognition eventually follows.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Take your role seriously and don’t underestimate the value of accuracy, professionalism, and ethics. In fields like healthcare and interpretation, details matter and people depend on your work. Build strong foundations, ask questions, protect your credibility, and don’t rush your growth. Confidence comes from competence, not shortcuts.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges is maintaining quality and ethical standards in an environment that increasingly prioritizes speed and volume. At the same time, this presents an opportunity for professionals who value accuracy, confidentiality, and human-centered care to stand out. As healthcare systems grow more complex and diverse, skilled interpreters and patient navigators play an increasingly critical role in ensuring equitable access and understanding.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, accountability, respect, and compassion. I believe in doing the right thing even when it’s inconvenient, treating people with dignity, and being dependable in both professional and personal relationships. These values guide how I work, how I communicate, and how I show up for others.
