Priscilla began her career in 2012 at ROY MAAS Youth Alternatives, a nonprofit residential treatment center, initially seeking experience after college. What began as a short-term role quickly grew into a lifelong passion as she witnessed the transformative impact of building relationships with youth facing traumatic or unstable backgrounds. She has since progressed into leadership roles, including Program Administrator at Pathways Youth & Family Services, where she helped develop new programs and expand services, demonstrating both her administrative skills and her commitment to improving children’s lives.
Academically, Priscilla holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Criminal Justice from Stephen F. Austin State University and is pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology with a focus on Forensics from Capella University, along with a graduate certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis. Her career is defined by advocacy, compassion, and the drive to equip vulnerable children with the tools and guidance they need to thrive.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to persistence, patience, and my ability to cultivate trusting, nonjudgmental relationships with youth. One of my proudest professional accomplishments has been successfully taking a program from concept to near full operation, demonstrating both strategic vision and practical execution.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is not to give up when faced with challenges. Even when progress or success isn’t immediately visible, the hard work you put in will ultimately pay off. Patience is essential, as it allows you to see how all the effort comes together over time.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to stay resilient and not give up when faced with challenges. Be patient, as results and progress often take time to become visible, but your perseverance will pay off in the long run.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is launching programs from scratch, particularly navigating the delays of contracts and operational approvals. At the same time, there is a critical opportunity to expand residential treatment centers (RTCs) and group residential operations (GROs) to provide stable placements and strong advocacy for children who lack consistent homes. Addressing this need can have a meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable youth.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me in both my work and personal life include advocacy for children, creating safe and supportive environments, engaging without judgment, building trust, and practicing patience and perseverance. Outside of work, I enjoy painting, making clothes, hiking, and planting—activities that fuel my creativity, resilience, and connection to the world around me.
