Priscilla Vega, MA, MLS (Law School Candidate), is a Human Resources and Talent Management professional whose work is rooted in both people and purpose.

As a first-generation Latina navigating the intersection of human resources and legal studies, she brings a uniquely informed and deeply personal perspective to building equitable and compliant workplaces. Her career has been defined not only by her ability to lead high-volume recruitment and manage complex employee relations matters, but by her commitment to creating environments where individuals feel seen, supported, and empowered. Through her experience supporting organizations across education, nonprofit, and legal sectors, Priscilla has developed a reputation for balancing operational excellence with genuine human connection, approaching every challenge with empathy, discretion, and strategic insight.

Currently completing her Master of Legal Studies at UCLA School of Law, Priscilla has strengthened her expertise in employment and labor law, further shaping her approach to human resources as both a strategic function and a vehicle for justice. The journey through law school has not been without challenges. As a first-generation graduate student, she has navigated demanding academic expectations while continuing to serve her community through pro bono work with the Legal Aid Society of San Diego. These experiences have reinforced her resilience, discipline, and commitment to advocacy, qualities that directly inform her work in HR.

Priscilla is passionate about bridging the gap between legal compliance and human-centered leadership. She is particularly driven to ensure that evolving workplace practices, especially in areas like hiring, employee relations, and organizational policy, are both equitable and forward-thinking.

Outside of her professional and academic pursuits, Priscilla finds joy in life’s simple moments, whether it’s baking, cooking, exploring new coffee shops, hiking coastal trails, or embracing new adventures. These experiences ground her, fuel her creativity, and reflect her belief in living a balanced and intentional life.

As she continues to grow in her career, Priscilla remains committed to becoming a strategic HR leader who not only supports organizations, but also uplifts people and communities along the way.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

My success is rooted in resilience, faith, and the mindset that where I come from does not limit where I’m going.

As a first-generation Latina, I’ve learned to navigate challenges without a clear roadmap, which has shaped my work ethic, determination, and ability to persevere in high-pressure environments like law school and human resources. Every obstacle has strengthened my confidence and reinforced my purpose to create opportunities, advocate for others, and lead with both empathy and integrity. I also carry the support and sacrifices of my family with me, which continues to motivate me to keep pushing forward and breaking barriers.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to take a seat at the table, even if you feel like you’re still learning.

As a first-generation Latina, it’s easy to feel like you need to have everything figured out before stepping into certain spaces. But I’ve learned that growth comes from showing up, speaking up, and trusting that you belong there.

At the same time, my dad has always reminded me to never settle for less than what I deserve. That advice has stayed with me throughout my journey, it’s pushed me to advocate for myself, pursue opportunities that align with my values, and continue striving for growth, even when the path feels uncertain. Together, these lessons have shaped how I approach my career: with confidence, purpose, and the belief that I am capable of more.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The advice I would give to young women entering Human Resource field is to always know your worth and never be afraid to advocate for yourself. HR is a field centered on supporting others, but it’s just as important to ensure you are valuing your own voice, contributions, and growth.

Don’t wait until you feel fully ready, step into opportunities, ask questions, and trust that you belong in the room. Growth comes from experience, not perfection! Build strong relationships, stay curious, and continue learning, especially as workplace dynamics and legal frameworks evolve.

Most importantly, lead with both empathy and confidence. Your perspective is valuable, and your ability to connect with people is a strength. When you know your worth and stand in it, you not only create space for yourself, you open doors for other women to do the same.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges I’ve experienced in this field is navigating the transition between roles while continuing to grow professionally. As someone actively seeking opportunities, I’ve seen firsthand how competitive the job market can be, especially in a field that is rapidly evolving with new expectations around technology, compliance, and strategic impact.

However, I view this challenge as an opportunity for growth. During this time, I’ve been able to further invest in my education through law school, strengthen my knowledge in employment and labor law, and gain meaningful experience through pro bono work supporting underserved communities. These experiences have allowed me to refine my skills, stay engaged in the field, and deepen my understanding of the real-world impact of HR and legal practices.

This period has reinforced my resilience and adaptability, and it has prepared me to bring even greater value to my next role. I see it not as a setback, but as a season of growth that is shaping me into a stronger, more strategic professional.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me most in both my work and personal life are honesty, respect, humility, and heart. I believe in showing up authentically and leading with honesty, while treating others with respect and understanding, regardless of the situation.

Integrity is at the core of everything I do, it shapes my decisions, my work ethic, and how I build trust with others. At the same time, compassion and heart remind me to lead with empathy, especially in human resources, where people’s experiences and challenges matter deeply.

Humility keeps me grounded and open to growth. I believe there is always something to learn, and that true leadership comes from listening, understanding, and lifting others along the way.

Together, these values shape not only how I approach my career, but how I move through life, with intention, purpose, and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact.
