Her Story
About Priya
I am a senior HR business partner at Q2, where I consult with business leaders as they're making business decisions, making sure they factor in people and understanding people's capabilities and how we use those capabilities to progress our business. I help identify skill gaps that exist within the organization and work to fill those gaps while consulting with the business to ensure we are fulfilling our strategic goals. One of my most notable achievements was being part of the core team during COVID in 2020 that rallied to make sure all of our people were safe. We quickly formulated policies and made quick decisions to keep our people safe, and I was awarded alongside my team for that. In times of need, when everything was uncertain and we didn't know where we needed to go, there was a small group of people that needed to show some leadership, and I'm grateful to be part of that small team that showed that leadership. I am an extreme extrovert and I love people. I love working with people, and it interests me to know and understand and learn about various different personalities. That's why I naturally turned to human resources, because this is the best profession to be able to do that. I consider myself successful in this field because I'm still in this field, 18 years later.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the one thing I've always known about myself: if I put my mind to something, I definitely won't rest until I've achieved it. I have a singular focus when I really want to put my mind to something. I also have an environment that is very conducive for me to do that, both professionally and personally. I have the space to be able to do that, and that's what I attribute my success to.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received from anyone is not to get hung up on 'I want to just do this' or 'I want to just do that.' Just keep an open mind and explore every opportunity that is presented to you, because every pebble that you gather will someday help you build a fortress. That's what I've always kind of lived by, and I will advise anybody else as well to live by that.
