Her Interview
Ten minutes with Quanisha
01What do you attribute your success to?
My ability to never give up. In a male-dominated field where you rarely see women and are told it's a man's job, I am proof that we can do it. I never gave up despite the difficulty getting in without experience initially.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Always never stop being teachable. Every moment could be a teachable moment. You don't know everything, so be open to be teachable.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The sky is the limit. Continue to get your certifications. Don't let your final position be your destination. Shoot for the stars.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is having to constantly prove yourself and prove that you are supposed to be there. Getting pushback from professionals like electricians who think safety knows nothing about their work.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Everyone has to make a living. My biggest thing is reminding everyone to put a picture of your family and why you're out there. This should be your main focus, to be safe, so you can return back to your why, which is your family.
