Her Story
About Quintella
I served 20 years in the United States Air Force, which remains my most notable professional achievement to this day. During my military career, I had the opportunity to work in a contracts office and with the comptroller, which is finance in the Air Force. That experience helped me discover my passion for contracts management. I enjoyed working with the many civilians who were contractors, and I started managing defense contractors. Since retiring from the Air Force in 2016, I have been working as a proposal analyst for Raytheon. My typical day involves reviewing contracts, checking bills of materials, and ensuring everything complies with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) before submitting proposals to the government. I work closely with suppliers to make sure they follow federal regulations, and since I control the funding, there really aren't many challenges - once I inform them of the requirements, they usually follow through because they want to win the contract.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Anything is obtainable. You can do anything you want to do. It takes hard work. Don't give up. That's what I tell my kids.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Really, there aren't any challenges in my field because I follow the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR). As long as my suppliers follow the FAR, there are no challenges. Once I inform them of the requirements, they usually follow through because they want to win the contract. It doesn't challenge me because I'm the money - I control the funding.
