Her Story

About Rachael

Rachael Livasy is a mental health professional and clinical leader with 16 years of experience in counseling, therapy, clinical supervision, and behavioral health services. She is the owner of Still Move, where she provides individual therapy to adolescents, adults, and parents, supervises provisionally licensed professional counselors, and facilitates DBT skills programs and consultation. Her clinical expertise includes Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), with a focus on emotion dysregulation with trauma. Previously, she served nearly a decade as clinical director at a group practice, where she created and scaled programs for teens and adults navigating suicidality, self-harm, substance use, and disordered eating. She began her career in community mental health as a case manager and therapist working with the seriously mentally ill population, building treatment plans and connecting clients with resources. As owner, she manages a team of clinicians, develops programs and training, handles administrative duties including hiring and onboarding, and focuses on adding service lines to meet community and therapist needs while preventing burnout.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Rachael

01What do you attribute your success to?

Constant problem solving and trying to think ahead of what the next services are, while preventing burnout for myself and my employees. Repositioning clinical focus as needed.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Do the work at the same time your clients are doing the work. Lean into a good supervisor and know that doing your own work alongside it will enhance you as a therapist and as a human.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Being bound by insurance contracts which limits income and creates unpredictability for therapists. Landing clients while making the business financially sustainable.
