Her Story
About Rachael
Rachael Malzac is the Director of Client Success at ReferralPoint, LLC., specializing in referral management within the healthcare SaaS industry. In this role, she partners with medical groups and payers to automate and streamline referral and authorization workflows, helping organizations control leakage, cost, and quality while ensuring patients are connected to the specialists they need. Her path into healthcare technology was shaped by an unconventional but complementary background: she began her career with vocational training in medical assisting and cardiovascular sonography, gaining hands-on clinical experience before pivoting into data-driven client success roles.
Before stepping into leadership at ReferralPoint, Malzac spent several years building her expertise in client-facing and analytical roles within the real estate analytics space, progressing from a research and quality assurance function into strategic account management. That progression sharpened her ability to translate complex data into actionable client outcomes, a skill she later carried into a role supporting property management software clients before making the move into healthcare technology. Across her career, she has accumulated six years of healthcare-related experience and was recognized as Client Success Manager of the Year in 2020 for delivering standout renewal rates and successful upsell outcomes.
Today, as Director of Client Success, Malzac oversees a team responsible for integrating client health record systems with her company's platform, ensuring referrals are completed efficiently and consult notes make their way back to primary care providers. She is a strong advocate for using technology, including AI, to lighten administrative burdens on healthcare staff while preserving the human oversight essential to quality patient care. Guided by values of kindness, respect, and mentorship, she remains focused on developing both her clients and her team, driven by a belief that resilience and consistent effort are what ultimately produce lasting professional success.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Rachael
01What do you attribute your success to?
I credit my success to true grit, unyielding determination, and personal resilience. Career paths and life journeys are rarely linear, and they often bring unforeseen hurdles and difficult periods. I've learned that choosing to stay resilient through those challenges fosters real personal and professional growth. Refusing to give up in the face of obstacles has allowed me to turn adversity into a source of long-term capability, adaptability, and strength.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I've received is to not fear what I don't know and to seize opportunities when they present themselves, rather than hesitating. I once regretted pausing before moving into a client success role when it was first offered to me, and that experience taught me the value of keeping things simple and continuing to push forward. Complex problems are often best solved through straightforward, persistent execution, and staying consistent through daily friction or setbacks keeps me moving toward my long-term goals.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women entering this industry to apply themselves fully, stay curious, and be vocal about their ambitions with leadership. Never hesitate to ask questions, and make sure your desired career trajectory is known to your team and managers so they can help guide your growth. Whether it's taking on new responsibilities, pursuing growth opportunities, or supporting a colleague, putting yourself out there consistently pays off. Even when the impact isn't immediately visible, every effort contributes to your development and prepares you for what's next. I'd also add that documenting your achievements matters, so your contributions are seen.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in healthcare operations is obtaining the right data to streamline processes without creating extra burdens for staff or patients. Behind-the-scenes administrative work, like entering data into electronic health record systems, can easily become overwhelming and pull focus away from direct patient care. Incomplete or misaligned data can also extend implementation timelines. That said, I see real opportunity in using AI to automate these repetitive administrative workflows. By integrating smart technology to manage background data tasks, organizations can reduce operational friction while preserving the human connection that patients need most during their care experience.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Kindness and respect are foundational for me. Treating everyone with basic courtesy creates a more positive, collaborative environment, both at work and at home. I also deeply value helpfulness and mentorship. Being willing to support and train others, even when it means repeating the same tasks with patience, is something I find genuinely rewarding, and I believe investing time in guiding new team members strengthens the whole organization.
