Her Story

About Racheal

With over 20 years in healthcare operations, I have built a comprehensive career spanning the entire revenue cycle. I started my journey with a medical office technician certificate in my 20s and worked my way up through roles with increasing responsibility, moving toward leadership along the way. My career began with 8 years in hospital billing and claims with a large provider group locally, then I transitioned to claims processing at UCARE, followed by customer service call center work. I spent 5 years total at UCARE as a Provider Contracting Coordinator Manager, where I was promoted to supervisor. Last year, I was honored to be selected for the UCARE CEO Roundtable program, where only one individual from each department is chosen annually to participate in networking, collaboration, and process improvement initiatives with the CEO. In mid-January of this year, I began my current role as an investigator with the Special Investigations Unit at Advise Health, where I conduct provider claim data review to locate possible fraud and investigate suspected fraudulent billing. My expertise lies in full cycle revenue cycle management for healthcare, and I attribute my success to being a relationship builder who is intentional about getting to know people and understanding their work styles through tools like DISC assessments.

Ten minutes with Racheal

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think building relationships is what I attribute my success to. I'm kind of like a relationship builder. I'm very intentional about getting to know somebody and learning their work style. I'm really obsessed with all of the different DISC things and the different personality things, so you can just learn about how somebody's work style is and the best way to interact with them. Just being really well-versed in those different kinds of things, I think, gives me a well-rounded approach when it comes to trying to do any kind of process improvement or just getting work completed.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I had a leader in my 20s who really understood me. I used to be very justice-driven, and she understood the why behind why I would want to get answers for something. She taught me that sometimes it's not the message that you're delivering, but the way that you're delivering it that is important. That lesson has really stuck with me throughout my career.
