Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I have a lot of self-drive. I'm a very optimistic, positive, hard-working person. I just have a natural drive and I appreciate and keep excited about a lot of different things. My family is what I'm very driven for, you know, making sure that my children grow up in a great environment and they're set out for success in life. I'm just a driver, I really am. I just, like, give me the wheel, and I'll steer it.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Everybody is replaceable. So I think it's incredibly important that you always continue to work hard, continue learning, diversify your skills, and just not rest on your laurels, you know. Just keep learning, keep growing.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Do not fall behind. Get with AI. You're not cheating. A lot of women, when you look at the statistics, are falling behind from using AI because their integrity tells them, oh no, I should be able to do this myself, but you're going to get left behind. Don't see it as replacing your knowledge, your thoughts, your excellence. It's literally a tool to elevate what you do, that can help you do what you do and enhance it, help you do it that much quicker, but it won't replace you. It won't replace your brain. So do not trip yourself up and fall behind. You have to get very savvy with AI because it's here, it's getting more and more advanced, and it's just part of our daily lives, so you just can't avoid it and you have to embrace it.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The job market has been really volatile for the last few years. We're certainly in interesting economic times. The job market has been very, very challenging, I think, for a lot of people in specific industries. For me, having my recruitment business, what's challenging is just finding the companies, the growth companies that are very proactively hiring, so they actually need recruiters and support to help them enable that, because there are many companies that aren't hiring and they're actually downsizing and laying off. So it's really finding the businesses that are in a stage of growth.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity is foundational for me. Kindness is essential because you never know what someone's going through, so always lead with kindness. I really pride myself on delivering excellence, not perfect, but striving to deliver a high standard. Respect at all times, be respectful to people. You don't always have to agree, but you can respectfully disagree. Elevate, which means keep elevating, keep learning. I'm not saying you have to exhaust yourself and you can never watch TV, but just keep evolving yourself wherever you can, keep learning. And honestly, just live life to the max. I've had quite a lot of health scares over the years, so I'm very much aware now that you can't control what you can't control, but what you can control, make the most of it. Just live life to the max, every day.
