About Rachel
Rachel Brinegar joined the military at the end of 2000. She initially served in Command and Control Battle Management Operations for several years, deploying multiple times, before cross-training into a paralegal role. Encouraged by a mentor, she applied for and was selected into the Senior Leader Enlisted Commissioning Program, which allowed her to attend college full time for a year before becoming a public affairs officer. Her first assignment was at Travis Air Force Base in Northern California, where she managed crisis communications during the initial COVID-19 repatriation efforts from quarantined cruise ships, working with agencies including DHS and Health and Human Services. She then PCSed to Space Operations Command, where she helped stand up the command as well as Space Training and Readiness Command. Most recently, she served as Chief of Public Affairs at Malmstrom Air Force Base, advising the commander on all communications matters including messaging around the ICBM Sentinel changeover. She is now beginning a 10-month Education With Industry fellowship at Blue Origin in Florida. Rachel holds a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Management and a Master's in Environmental Policy and Management. Her areas of specialization include communications, brand management, crisis communications, and strategic communications planning and execution.
