About Rachel

Rachel Courchaine is a Medicare advisor and benefits consultant with approximately a decade of experience in the Medicare insurance field. Her expertise encompasses a wide range of Medicare programs, including Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplemental plans, stand-alone prescription drug plans, special needs programs for individuals on fixed incomes, chronic condition plans, and group programs for retirees. She began her insurance career around 2013 or 2014 after transitioning from work in aesthetics, obtaining her license through training for the Affordable Care Act. She worked at United Healthcare in a role that became permanent, followed by nearly seven years at Independent Care Health Plan in Milwaukee. She recently started a new consulting position where she assists clients in selecting suitable plans from multiple carriers such as United Healthcare and Anthem. Courchaine attributes her success to her own determination, her mother's instilled work ethic, and the support of her late grandfather. She advises others, especially young women entering the field, to lead with nerve, focus, and intention while never giving up.

Ten minutes with Rachel

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would attribute my success to myself and also to my mother who instilled a work ethic on me, and my grandfather who passed away May of last year. I don't think I would have made it as far as I have without his support.

Don't give up. If you don't know what you want to do right away, it's okay. You will figure it out. Everything will come together at some point, but don't give up. Stay focused and just do the best you can.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

If you lead with nerve, focus and intention, where you'll find your success.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is that it is constantly changing. It's an ever-changing industry. Lots change every 4 years. You gotta keep up on your education. The opportunity is that everybody needs insurance and you can really make a difference in someone's life by helping them get into a good fit plan.
