Her Story
About Rachel
Rachel Grimm is a dedicated public health professional with nearly a decade of experience in the nonprofit sector, specializing in disability services and public health. She currently serves as Senior Manager of Training and Inclusive Care Initiatives at the Institute for Exceptional Care (IEC), where she focuses on developing and managing programs that promote more inclusive and accessible healthcare for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Her work includes creating practical resources, including resource guides and toolkits, designed to support individuals with IDD, caregivers, and healthcare professionals while fostering more effective and meaningful interactions during medical appointments.
Rachel’s professional journey was shaped by her academic background at the University of Delaware, where she earned a BS in Human Development and Family Studies with additional studies in Disability Studies and Public Policy. She later earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Public Health Education and Promotion from The George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health in Washington, D.C. Before joining IEC, Rachel spent more than six years with the National Down Syndrome Society, where she advanced through roles in special events, conferences, and health programs, ultimately serving as Manager of Health Programs – Aging & Caregiving. She also gained valuable experience with Special Olympics New Jersey, contributing to outreach and inclusive programming initiatives.
Throughout her career, Rachel has remained committed to strengthening connections within the disability community and bridging gaps between individuals with disabilities, caregivers, and healthcare providers. She brings expertise in program development, project management, community engagement, education, and inclusive healthcare initiatives, with a strong emphasis on creating practical solutions that improve access and understanding. As a member of the American Public Health Association, Rachel continues to contribute to the broader public health community while advancing her mission of building a more equitable, informed, and inclusive healthcare system for people with IDD.
