Rachel A. Gupta
Rachel A. Gupta, founder of Gupta Dispute Resolutions LLC and a mediator and arbitrator with JAMS, is a highly accomplished dispute resolution expert with extensive experience in commercial, financial, insurance, and employment litigation. A former commercial litigator and in-house counsel, she has successfully managed high-stakes commercial cases while advising small to mid-sized businesses on complex legal and strategic matters. Her combination of legal expertise, business acumen, and interpersonal skills enables her to navigate challenging dynamics and resolve disputes in ways that address the most critical interests of all parties involved. Having spent nearly a decade as in-house counsel for a public company, Rachel brings firsthand insight into corporate operations, risk management, and strategic decision-making. She understands how legal disputes can be resolved efficiently and cost-effectively without resorting to protracted litigation. Her wide-ranging business law expertise covers general commercial, securities, structured finance, cryptocurrency, employment, real estate, insurance, and more, equipping her to guide organizations of all sizes through conflict toward successful resolution. Rachel is actively engaged in the professional mediation and arbitration community. She served as an associate for the College of Commercial Arbitrators (2023–2025), was a JAMS Diversity Fellow (2021–2022), and is a panel member for JAMS, CPR, SDNY, EDNY, and the New York Supreme Court Commercial Division. Rachel earned her Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law and holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from The George Washington University.

I attribute my success to the strong values instilled in me by my parents and my own personal drive to succeed. From an early age, I was taught the importance of hard work, integrity, and perseverance, which have shaped my approach to every challenge and opportunity. Combined with my determination and commitment to excellence, these principles have enabled me to achieve my goals and continuously grow both personally and professionally.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to follow my dreams. Pursuing what truly inspires and motivates me has guided my decisions, helped me stay focused through challenges, and opened doors to opportunities that align with my passions and strengths. This guidance reminds me that a fulfilling career comes from combining ambition with purpose, and that staying true to my vision is the key to long-term success and satisfaction.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to never give up and always recognize your value. Build confidence in your skills, knowledge, and expertise, and don’t be afraid to assert yourself in every opportunity. Stay curious, keep learning, and trust that your dedication and competence will speak for themselves. By knowing your worth and mastering your craft, you can navigate challenges with resilience and make a meaningful impact in your field.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I face in my field is overcoming stereotypes. These preconceived notions can create barriers, limit opportunities, or shape expectations in ways that don’t reflect my skills, experience, or potential. At the same time, this challenge presents an opportunity to redefine perceptions through my work, demonstrating competence, professionalism, and leadership. By consistently delivering results and fostering inclusive collaboration, I can help break down stereotypes and create a more equitable environment for myself and others in the industry.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In both my professional and personal life, I place the highest value on honesty, integrity, and kindness. I believe that transparent and ethical behavior forms the foundation for trust and strong relationships, while approaching every interaction with compassion fosters collaboration and understanding. Effective communication is also central to my approach, ensuring that ideas, expectations, and feedback are conveyed clearly and respectfully.
