Her Story
About Rachel
Rachel Hodge graduated high school and completed one year of college before becoming a stay-at-home mom. She previously held positions in the medical field performing front desk duties, worked as a clerical office assistant for the state, and spent nearly 20 years as a bartender, ultimately serving as head bartender manager before leaving that industry seven years ago. Since September of last year, Rachel has pursued an entrepreneurial path that allows her to leverage social media to share her journey, inspire other women, and gain time freedom to support her family as a mother of four and wife. She credits her progress to the learning process, mentorship from other women, and available tools that provide steps when challenges arise. Rachel values honesty about her experiences, including ongoing struggles, and encourages others to pursue goals and dreams without fear of what-ifs, noting that she has grown stronger in her late 40s through this work.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Rachel
01What do you attribute your success to?
The learning process. I'm not doing this on my own. I have other women inspiring me, mentorship, every tool given to me to learn this process, to give me the steps. If I'm stuck, I'm not figuring it out on my own because you're not alone doing this. Somebody is always there if you don't know the answer. I've become a stronger woman in my late 40s.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
To follow your goals and dreams, no matter what.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Even if you're scared, or if you're skeptical, or whatnot, just go for it, because who wants to live with what-ifs? That's my motto, like, what if? Like, what if you do fail? You're not gonna know unless you try. I'd rather have tried and failed, and then I knew I failed, versus the what if, but now I'm succeeding. Go for it, scared and all. I didn't know anything coming into this, and I still went for it.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Getting yourself out there on social media. I'm not famous, just your everyday normal mom and wife living life. Everybody starts from zero. I still don't give up on my social media. I'm still there every day posting, sharing my journey, inspiring. The biggest challenge is knowing that it takes time, but I'm willing to put in that time to get it to grow.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Inspiring others. I'm really forward about my journey, I don't sugarcoat anything. This wasn't an overnight process. I value that I'm inspiring and honest about my journey, and even the struggles till this day. I value the time freedom that it gives you, as long as you're willing to put in the time and effort. I let people know from the start, don't get frustrated after a week or two weeks. I did, but I still didn't give up, because I knew that if I put in the time and effort, that the value of this was going to pay off.
