Her Story

About Rachel

I started in retail right out of high school, got married and pregnant, then decided to go back to school while raising an infant. I began in HR in healthcare, pivoted to the steel industry in manufacturing, did some consulting, and landed back in manufacturing. My expertise is in the employee experience, driving belonging from the first phone call through workplace culture, talent acquisition, and being a strategic partner.

Ten minutes with Rachel

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my faith, the motivation of setting an example for my daughter, and the relationships I've built with mentors who provide feedback and cheer me on through the years.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

My mentor told me that life is a walk through the garden, and if you walk too fast you miss the chance to stop and smell the roses. The advice is to be present, be where your feet are, and appreciate the micro-moments of beauty and gratitude in daily life.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be intentional with your time, who you surround yourself with, and how you respond versus react. Prioritize your peace, show up, choose courage over comfort, and be present even when handling tough conversations and celebrations back-to-back.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Faith, courage, and authenticity are most important to me. I lead with faith and gratitude, find the courage to step out of my comfort zone, and strive to be the same authentic person in all situations rather than having separate work and personal versions of myself.
