What do you attribute your success to?
Early on, I went through a moment that completely reshaped everything for me. I had moved to Chicago, wasn’t loving what I was doing, and then in 1989 my apartment burned down. I lost everything—and I didn’t have insurance because, at the time, I never even considered something like that could happen.
Looking back, that moment became a turning point. When something like that happens, you really only have two options—you either retreat, or you figure out how to move forward. I chose to figure it out. That experience forced me to take ownership, to think differently, and to start building my own set of principles around how I approached work and sales.
That’s really where everything started. It pushed me to become a student of what works—paying attention, observing, refining, and then applying those lessons consistently. Over time, those principles shaped a very successful career and have been the foundation for how I’ve trained and developed others as well.
What felt like a setback at the time ultimately became one of the most defining and valuable moments. It created a level of clarity, resilience, and perspective that has carried through everything since.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve been given is to stay focused on the career right in front of you. Everything you do should support it—how you show up, how you spend your time, the decisions you make day to day. It’s easy to get distracted by what’s next or what others are doing, but real growth comes from being fully committed to the role you’re in and executing it exceptionally well. When you do that, everything else tends to follow.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I’d say it’s just as important how you start as how you finish. What I mean by that is, a lot of people come into a role and immediately want to be a manager in week one—but what you’re learning in those early stages is what actually makes you invaluable later. That time matters. It’s okay to invest in it. It’s okay to do the work, to understand the details, to build real experience—because that’s what creates the foundation for everything that comes in your career.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the most defining challenges in this stage of growth is the constant influx of opportunities—partners, platforms, and services all positioning themselves as essential investments. When you’re building from the ground up, the real work isn’t just saying yes—it’s knowing what truly matters. The discipline lies in filtering the noise, prioritizing with intention, and structuring the business in a way that supports both immediate traction and long-term success. Right now, much of the focus is in the details—being close to the business, ensuring financial strength, and making thoughtful decisions about where to invest time and resources.
At the same time, we’ve been incredibly fortunate when it comes to our team. We’ve built a group of experienced, driven individuals who bring both expertise and initiative. There’s a shared mindset—no task is too big or too small—and a level of alignment that allows things to move quickly and seamlessly. They anticipate needs, take ownership, and actively contribute to the growth of the business. Our opening has been strong, and that foundation has made all the difference.
At this point, the challenges aren’t in vision—they’re in the refinement. It’s about navigating the minutiae, staying focused, and continuing to build with precision.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
It may sound cliché to say we want to change people’s lives, but for us, it has always been about empowerment. Confidence isn’t something we give—it’s something we help unlock. Over the past 17 years, we’ve seen that not only in the clients we care for, but in the people we’ve had the privilege to work with and develop. There’s nothing more meaningful than seeing someone step into an opportunity and truly run with it. That, more than anything, is the reward.
We are deeply committed to elevating leadership within this industry. It’s an interesting dynamic—our clientele is predominantly women, yet many companies are still led by men. We believe in building something different: a culture rooted in strong, thoughtful, and diverse leadership. Our team reflects that vision—driven, collaborative, and united by a shared standard of excellence and opportunity.
