02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
That is certainly a difficult question. We receive so much advice, from family, peers, colleagues, and mentors alike. I think that what I have really learned is that one size does not fit all. One approach or technique may work fabulously for one and will not work well for others at all. An extension of that is having learned what is comfortable for me to try, change or take on. I get in my head often because I honestly care about my clients and my performance. Some may even say that I am too hard on myself. To counter this, I do have to tell myself that it is okay to fail, I will not always get client, offer accepted, or terms we want. Working through all facets of my career is what keeps me intrigued and desirous of continuing experiencing and learning more.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Number one, it's not really as easy as everybody wants to make it out to be. Be true to yourselves and know that the time you put in is the amount you're going to get out of it. Are you looking to achieve a certain dollar amount as far as your income or your sales? Be realistic. Don't beat yourself up if you lose one or two or ten clients, because you will. Just continue to constantly educate yourself and be in the know with what's going on in the industry. The vast majority of people that get into real estate may not understand the commitment it takes to do it well! Understand what you're committing to and put in the real effort required.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I think it will be interesting to see how AI continues to integrate into our industry. Are we as replaceable as many other industries fear? Obviously, pieces of it may be, but I am ready to embrace some and hope that the human component is still required to practice effectively. There is a lot of movement and innovation in our space. Many brokerages are considering a more client and agent-centric approach to the business. Though some of the larger players in our arena continue to grow with my concern that they are becoming more of a monolithic entity.... Only time can tell which design is truly the better option for our clients. I prefer the former. We have weathered changes and challenges having to justify our worth and navigating state and local changes to the law with regard to real estate. This field, that I love so much, is ever evolving and it is our obligation to continue educating ourselves and then have an honest, fair, and transparent experience with our clients and our colleagues
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Obviously, honesty and integrity, transparency. I will not compromise these values. If it means the difference between securing a new client or not, I will not put myself in a position to waiver on these ideals. We must always treat everyone fairly; this is what they deserve! I operate with these values even though I am in an industry that some may question all the players.... I will never compromise on honesty, integrity, and transparency..
