What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success largely to the guidance and example set by my mother, Mary Santos. She instilled in me the importance of a strong work ethic—showing up on time, doing the right thing, giving my best, and going the extra mile. I have always strived to mirror that approach. By staying dedicated and consistently working hard, my efforts were recognized, which created opportunities for advancement. Those experiences allowed me to reach the positions I aspired to and continue progressing in my career.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received came from my mother: always show up on time, do the right thing, give your best effort, and be willing to go the extra mile. I’ve carried that guidance with me throughout my career, and it has shaped the way I approach every opportunity and challenge.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise young women entering my industry to trust their instincts. If something feels right for you, pursue it, chase your dreams, and commit fully. With hard work and dedication, you will always find your footing and create opportunities for yourself.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced in my field has been managing the demanding hours of hospitality and maintaining discipline when COVID shifted schooling and work online. At the same time, there have been significant opportunities, such as transitioning into mechanical services sales for a better schedule and compensation, and leveraging third-party recognition—like being named among Influential Women—to grow visibility and expand my professional network.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me in both my work and personal life are strong work ethic, integrity, punctuality, and a willingness to go the extra mile—principles my mother instilled in me from an early age. I strive to mirror these values in everything I do. Giving back is also deeply important to me. This May, I signed up to run my first half marathon for the Parkinson’s Foundation to raise awareness and support for my two cousins, both in their forties, who are living with Parkinson’s. It was meaningful to contribute to a cause that directly affects my family while embodying the values I hold dear.
