Her Story

About Rachel

Rachel Vigne is an accomplished medical sales and laboratory diagnostics professional with more than a decade of experience in the healthcare industry. After earning her B.S. in International Fashion Business Management from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, she initially began her career in the fashion industry before transitioning into medical sales, drawn by the opportunity to make a more meaningful impact. She launched her healthcare career with Acutis Diagnostics, initially covering Queens and the Bronx in toxicology testing before developing a new territory in Westchester County, New York where she was responsible for a suite of PCR-based offerings. Within three years, she grew the territory to generate multi-million-dollar revenue, demonstrating her ability to develop client relationships, expand markets, and deliver strong results. Vigne later joined Becton Dickinson’s women’s health division, where she worked in molecular diagnostics and contributed to the launch of an HPV self-swab test. This self-swab opened doors to a less invasive testing option and improved access for individuals who traditionally faced barriers to cervical cancer screening. She subsequently joined Labcorp, following its acquisition of Invitae, and currently serves as an Oncology Specialty Development Executive, specializing in oncology and genetic testing. Based in York, Pennsylvania, she covers central Pennsylvania and portions of Philadelphia, working closely with genetic counselors and healthcare providers at cancer centers and hospitals across the state. Her responsibilities include educating medical professionals about testing platforms, conducting in-services, growing revenue within her assigned territory, and building relationships with providers to help expand access to advanced diagnostic testing. In addition to her sales responsibilities, Vigne serves as a Regional Sales Trainer for Labcorp’s Northeast West division, where she develops training programs and mentors new sales representatives. She is passionate about being in the field, educating physicians, strengthening provider relationships, and contributing to advances in oncology care. Her commitment to making a meaningful difference has been a consistent theme throughout her career. She received a Sales Achievement Award from Acutis Diagnostics for generating $2.5 million in company revenue and continues to bring an energetic, collaborative approach to her work. Outside of her professional life, Vigne enjoys salsa dancing, painting oil landscapes, and maintaining an active fitness routine. She is also an avid traveler and has been to over 30 countries.

Ten minutes with Rachel

01What do you attribute your success to?

I have found success by being a genuine resource for clients. Healthcare providers are so busy; I make use of their time by providing valuable clinical, operational, and financial updates related to testing. I ask questions and tailor my approach to provide diagnostic solutions that work towards the goals of each individual provider. I also believe in being adaptable; the healthcare industry is constantly changing, and as reps we have to change with it. I stay genuinely curious, I focus on what I can control, and I start every day with a positive, upbeat attitude. Most importantly, I attribute my success to my passion for the work I do and the meaningful impact it can have on patients’ lives. Helping people make informed decisions about their health, including decisions that may lead to potentially life-saving preventive surgeries or targeted therapies, has made my career especially fulfilling.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received is to focus on motivating and inspiring others while recognizing the value that every person brings to a team. My coworkers have been some of my greatest mentors throughout my career, and their guidance has taught me the importance of collaboration, encouragement, and learning from those around me. As a Regional Trainer, I truly value being part of a team that works together toward a shared purpose, and I find great fulfillment in supporting and inspiring others as we strive to make a meaningful difference in the healthcare field.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to believe that they can build a successful career while also making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Stay committed to your goals, do so with integrity, remain open to learning and growth, and recognize the impact your work can have. Success is not only about professional achievement; it is also about using your skills and opportunities to contribute to something that matters. My other piece of advice? It is ok to fail. It is all part of the process, and if you aren't taking risks or going out of your comfort zone, you can't truly grow. Learn and adapt from your mistakes, and don't be afraid to ask for help. When the time comes, pass on what you've learned to someone new and help lift up others.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The healthcare landscape is constantly evolving. I stay up to date on all testing guidelines, navigate billing procedures & coverage, and combat restricted access into many healthcare facilities. Even with these challenges, there is tremendous opportunity in the oncology space right now. There is a heavy focus on early detection and prevention, and we are seeing advances in targeted therapies that can help personalize care for patients. In my role, I have the opportunity to navigate the complexities of the field while helping healthcare professionals and patients access information and testing that can make a difference in patient care. The challenges keep me engaged and continually learning, while the opportunity to contribute to better patient outcomes makes the work especially fulfilling.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

What I value most in my work is being able to make a meaningful difference. I enjoy being out in the field rather than behind a desk, educating physicians about different testing platforms, sharing information that can support patient care, and building strong relationships with healthcare providers. I have built these relationships by being honest and acting as a resource to clients. Outside of work, I make time for things that bring me joy, such as art. I enjoy salsa dancing and oil painting. I also love to travel; I have been to over 30 countries. Everything I do, whether it is professional or personal, comes from a place of kindness, integrity, and curiosity.
