Her Story

About Rae

I've been working in consumer packaged goods and grocery for over a decade, starting just one week after I graduated with my undergraduate degree in 2023. I went on to earn my master's in business and have been working full-time ever since, continuing to grow and develop. What led me to where I am today is my desire to have an impact on others, whether that be my team, the community I work in or around, and an overall willingness to want to help people and be there for them. I manage a building where I'm responsible for all operations - from people leadership to program execution, customer service, and all the financials and budgeting. Every single day is different, and I never know what I'm walking into. Those priorities shift and change quite literally every single day, and honestly, every 5 minutes. It keeps me on my toes, and I have to be flexible and pivot, and I do it with a smile. I believe communication is an art, and I'm an expert in navigating any sort of dialogue, whether it's conflict, interpersonal conflict between team members, or communicating a program or initiative or change. There's a thousand different ways you can deliver a message, and the power behind what you want to accomplish comes from how you say it. How I communicate has truly made a difference and kind of got me to where I am today. My most notable professional achievement is the fact that I've navigated this high-stress position for the last 7 years, all while raising 3 children that are currently 7 and under. I'm a full-time mom and work full-time.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my commitment to my personal growth and development. I also attribute it to my mentors who have invested in me and guided me, and have been there for me to lean on when I have questions or need support. They've been that kick in the ass whenever I need it. I've made amazing connections and have a vast and very wide network that I'm able to lean on in many different ways. I believe in being vulnerable at times, and you have to ask for help and can't be afraid to ask for help. I've been humbled enough to know that I can't do everything on my own.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is don't be afraid to be aggressive and go after what it is that you want. And don't be afraid to ask questions, but never ask the same question twice.
