Her Story

About Raiven

Raiven Valdez serves as a Senior Project Coordinator in the A&E industry, where she has spent three years in her current position and eight to ten years as a working professional. Her responsibilities include project coordination across multiple disciplines, documentation, financial accuracy, change orders, and ensuring compliance throughout the full project lifecycle from proposals to completion. Prior to entering the industry, she served four and a half years on active duty in the U.S. Air Force as part of the Honor Guard, acting as a Pentagon tour guide and participating in the 9-11 memorial events. During her service she earned the Office of the Secretary of Defense badge, a joint service medal, an achievement medal, and Airman Below the Zone recognition, which allowed her to test early and achieve promotion to Staff Sergeant. She began her education at community college before attending the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and is now completing a bachelor's degree in political science at Arizona State University, with an expected graduation in spring 2027 following receipt of her associate's degree in fall 2025. Raiven attributes her success entirely to her family and holds core values of trust, transparency, and kindness in both her professional and personal life.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Raiven

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success is attributed 110% to my family, my husband, my brothers, and my mom and dad.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The person who will advocate the hardest for you is yourself, so make sure you always advocate for yourself.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

You may be the only one at the table, but that doesn't mean that you are any less deserving of anyone there. You deserve a seat at the table, too, so don't let anyone make you feel like it was given or gifted; it was absolutely earned.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Trust, transparency, and kindness are some of my core values.
