About Raiza
Raiza Ramirez serves as Development Manager at the International Examiner, a Seattle-based community-led media organization that produces culturally grounded journalism to preserve stories, cultivate civic conversations, and build solidarity across the Seattle Chinatown District. In this role, which she has held since September of the prior year, she builds systems to engage donors, leads annual campaigns, and helps ensure the mission remains sustainable and community-centered while uplifting Asian American, Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and Islander communities. Ramirez entered the nonprofit fundraising field approximately five years ago after relocating from California to Washington in 2020 for personal reasons, beginning at the MATS Foundation where she supported free cancer treatment initiatives across low- and middle-income countries. She earned a degree in business administration and management in her hometown of Venezuela and moved to the United States ten years ago, learning English while working. Her professional development includes AI certifications from Anthropic, LinkedIn, and Google, a global health certification, and a specialization in digital marketing and e-commerce. Ramirez maintains active membership in the Association of Fundraising Professionals and volunteers as a Public Information Officer for the American Red Cross Northwest Region, a role she has held for more than two years, in addition to prior social media volunteering with Rescue.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't be so hard on yourself because it is very common in fundraising that one person has a lot of hats. Be patient, be nice to yourself. If you are doing great, you can do it one step at a time. And if this is something that you really like, if you are passionate about your organization, about the mission, it is always easier.
