What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to persistent networking, thorough research, and adaptability—building genuine relationships in the Cleveland small business community, learning regulations inside and out, and being willing to problem-solve when challenges arise. I also credit mentorship and my analytical background for guiding smart, informed decisions along the way.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received came through mentors like Luke Barnett and the team at ECDI, who taught me the importance of seeking guidance, staying educated, and not building alone. I’ve also learned that surrounding yourself with other small business owners who are willing to share knowledge and encouragement can make all the difference.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Do your homework before you invest—understand the regulations, licensing, and compliance requirements, and don’t assume every business model or piece of equipment is universally approved. Be persistent, ask questions, network with intention, and surround yourself with mentors who truly understand the industry.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in the industry is navigating complex health department regulations, licensing restrictions, and certifications like NAMMA compliance, while also managing staffing and logistics as mobile and automated operations scale. At the same time, smart vending, automated retail, grocery partnerships, and physical storefront expansion present major opportunities, driven by growing demand for technology-enabled vending and unique consumer experiences.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Perseverance, integrity, and independence guide both my work and personal life, along with a strong commitment to community support, financial responsibility, and continuous improvement. I’m focused on building a trustworthy, sustainable business that provides long-term stability for my family while reflecting the discipline and excellence that have shaped me throughout my life.
