Her Story
About RANITA
My career journey began in business administration, working as an administrative assistant in an IT department. Being surrounded by the IT team and having opportunities to fill in with troubleshooting and help desk work really sparked my passion for technology. I loved working on computers and solving problems, which led me to change my major and pursue my Bachelor's degree in IT from University of Phoenix. Just two weeks after graduating with my bachelor's, I received my breast cancer diagnosis. Rather than letting cancer define me, I decided to go back to school during my treatment to accomplish more goals and stay focused. Throughout my journey of surgeries, procedures, and recovery, I pursued my Master's in Cybersecurity and maintained a 4.0 GPA, graduating with honors. That resilience and determination became one of my biggest accomplishments. Today, I'm the founder of Asher Unlimited LLC, a business with three divisions that each represent a part of my journey. Asher's Closet supports women with breast, cervical, and ovarian cancers by sending comfort boxes and connecting them with resources they need during surgery and recovery. Asher's Mental Health Resource Center provides emotional support, safe spaces, and peer groups for mental wellness. And Asher's Technology focuses on my passion for cybersecurity, helping businesses protect their systems and stay safe. I'm also a published author - my book 'Can You See Me?' is available on Amazon and tells the story of my childhood challenges. I believe that sometimes the very things that try to break us become the foundation that builds us, and my purpose is to help others going through the same struggles I've faced.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to faith, perseverance, resilience, and a commitment to continuous learning. Throughout my life, I have faced challenges that could have easily discouraged me, including personal hardships, health struggles, and undergoing breast cancer treatment while pursuing my Master's degree in Cybersecurity. Instead of allowing those obstacles to define me, I used them as motivation to keep moving forward and remain focused on my goals.
I believe success is not measured solely by achievements but by the ability to overcome adversity, remain committed to your vision, and continue growing through every season of life. My family, support system, education, faith, and determination have all played significant roles in my journey.
Earning my Bachelor's degree in Information Technology and graduating with honors and a 4.0 GPA in my Master's program taught me that challenges do not have to limit your potential. Every obstacle I faced strengthened my resolve and reinforced my belief that perseverance, hard work, and purpose can carry you through even the most difficult circumstances.
Most importantly, I have learned that every challenge carries a lesson and every setback creates an opportunity for growth. Those experiences inspired me to build Asher Unlimited and its initiatives, allowing me to turn pain into purpose and create meaningful impact in the lives of others.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received is to never count yourself out and never stop investing in yourself. There will always be challenges, setbacks, and moments of uncertainty, but those moments do not define your potential.
That advice stayed with me throughout my educational journey and career transition into technology and cybersecurity. It reminded me that every class, certification, and opportunity was an investment in my future, even when the path was difficult.
Looking back, I'm grateful that I continued believing in myself, because some of my greatest accomplishments came during seasons when it would have been easier to quit. That lesson continues to guide me today as an entrepreneur, author, and cybersecurity professional.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the technology and cybersecurity industry is to believe in yourself, stay curious, and never stop learning. Technology is constantly evolving, which means there will always be opportunities to grow, develop new skills, and create your own path.
Do not be intimidated by what you do not know. Every expert was once a beginner, and success comes from being willing to learn, ask questions, and remain persistent. Invest in your education, pursue certifications, seek mentors, and take advantage of opportunities that help you gain hands-on experience.
Most importantly, do not allow setbacks, self-doubt, or challenges to convince you that you do not belong. Your perspective, ideas, and contributions are valuable. There is room for women to lead, innovate, and make a meaningful impact in technology and cybersecurity.
Believe in your abilities, stay committed to your goals, and remember that your journey does not have to look like anyone else's to be successful.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in the technology and cybersecurity field is keeping pace with the rapid evolution of technology. As artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital systems continue to advance, cyber threats are becoming more sophisticated and complex. Organizations must continuously adapt, strengthen their security practices, and educate their workforce to stay protected.
At the same time, these advancements create tremendous opportunities. The growing demand for cybersecurity professionals, AI specialists, and technology leaders has opened doors for individuals from diverse backgrounds to enter the field and make meaningful contributions. There are more opportunities than ever to innovate, solve complex problems, and help organizations navigate an increasingly digital world.
I believe one of the most exciting opportunities is the ability to use technology not only to protect businesses and information but also to improve lives, increase accessibility, and create solutions that positively impact communities. As technology continues to evolve, the need for skilled, ethical, and forward-thinking professionals will only continue to grow.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me are integrity, perseverance, compassion, and continuous growth.
Integrity is the foundation of everything I do. I believe in being honest, accountable, and treating others with respect, both professionally and personally. Trust is built through consistency, and I strive to lead by example in my actions and decisions.
Perseverance has been a guiding value throughout my life. Whether pursuing my education, navigating health challenges, or building my business, I have learned the importance of staying committed to my goals even when circumstances are difficult.
Compassion is equally important to me. Through my personal experiences, I have developed a deep appreciation for supporting others, listening without judgment, and creating spaces where people feel seen, valued, and encouraged.
Finally, I believe in continuous growth. I am committed to lifelong learning, self-improvement, and embracing new opportunities that allow me to evolve both personally and professionally.
These values guide how I lead, how I serve others, and how I approach every aspect of my life.
