She currently serves as a Client Relationship Representative at Accion Opportunity Fund, where she applies her extensive expertise to support business clients and help them achieve sustainable growth. Raquel began her professional journey at a local market similar to Whole Foods before moving into banking, where she quickly advanced through roles of increasing responsibility. She spent nearly a decade at Citi, rising from teller to branch manager. At the age of 27, she spearheaded the relocation of a branch and oversaw the opening of Florida’s first CitiGold Center in May 2017, a milestone that highlights her leadership, organizational skills, and commitment to excellence. Prior to Citibank, Raquel gained valuable experience at a small community bank, laying the foundation for her long-standing career in finance.
Outside of her professional life, Raquel enjoys spending quality time with her family, traveling, reading, and exploring the outdoors. What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of drive and mentorship. Growing up with immigrant parents, I witnessed my mother’s hard work and sacrifices, which instilled in me a strong sense of purpose and the determination to seize opportunities she didn’t have. Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to work with exceptional managers who recognized my potential, guided my growth, and helped shape my career, for which I remain deeply grateful.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to seek out mentors and remain open to learning. Embrace constructive feedback, ask questions without hesitation, and be eager, hardworking, and dedicated. Building strong client relationships is essential, as they reflect your work ethic and professionalism and can form the foundation of your success. Above all, maintain honesty and integrity in everything you do.
