Rashelle Oxborough serves as Chief External Liaison for a national nonprofit that provides free school supplies to the country's most under-resourced teachers and students, with the goal of building equity in education and leveling the playing field for equal access and opportunities. In this role, she oversees communications and public relations, strategic partnerships, branding and messaging, digital platforms, and media relations, while also acting as chief copywriter and organizational spokesperson. With 19 years of experience in the field, Oxborough draws on her background in public relations and youth studies from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, as well as early work creating live interactive shows with the Walt Disney Company and Radio Disney and building youth programs with local nonprofits. Her career has focused on bridging sectors to combine expertise and resources around shared goals that improve society, including forging corporate partnerships for mentorship and literacy programs at a bilingual charter school and scaling national give-back initiatives with partners such as Toyota.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Focus on defining your own true north. Your career chances are going to take unexpected turns and may not look like they do in your head right now.
