About Ravien
Ravien Burns is a multimedia journalism and content creation professional pursuing a freelance path that allows her to maintain authenticity and control her own schedule. She attended Dillard University, the oldest HBCU in New Orleans, where she began creating content during her freshman year and expanded her skills through the newspaper club, broadcasting team for athletics sideline reporting, and the Media Scholars Program cohort for Super Bowl 59. After graduating she served as social media coordinator for the program. Her early inspiration came from her cousin Travis Cummings, a reporter and anchor, and participation in the JR NOLA journalism program, where she published her first article. She is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated and values focusing on mental health, setting boundaries, and staying authentic in her work while supporting community initiatives in New Orleans.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
You as younger women going into college please remember that this is your life it's your race do not rush it. There are many opportunities placed for you and only you. Even through it all you can pick yourself up and persevere and bounce back 10 times greater. Being in college it will come with so many setbacks but a minor setback always brings you to a major comeback. Be happy be authentic be yourself. Find your own truth find your own niche. Don't follow the same thing that everybody else is doing.
02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I am an empath so I feel so emotional about things but you also still have to remember it is work. Don't tell your left hand what's on your right meaning don't showcase everything going on with your work. Focus on you really focus on your mental don't get so overworked or burnt out. When you can say no just live your life.
