Her Story

About Raychelle

Raychelle Harris is a multifaceted legal, nonprofit, and business consultant, certified grant writer and the Principal of Harris Legal Support Services, LLC, a position she has held since 2020. Her professional journey began in the hospitality industry, where she advanced from a front desk agent to supervisory and management positions, ultimately serving in front office management, director of rooms, and general management roles. While building her career, Raychelle earned a degree in Hotel Restaurant Tourism Management from the University of New Orleans through a Marriott scholarship opportunity. Her early experiences in hospitality, combined with her longstanding involvement in churches, nonprofits, and community organizations, laid the foundation for her work in consulting, compliance, and organizational development. Raychelle expanded her expertise by earning a Master’s degree in Legal Studies from Tulane University and a Master of Divinity in Christian Studies from St. Thomas University. She is a certified Tier 3 grant writer, enabling her to teach grant writing and work with international funding opportunities, and she conducts grant-writing workshops at a local community college to equip entrepreneurs and nonprofit leaders with practical tools for securing funding. Her expertise encompasses legal research and writing, nonprofit compliance, regulatory analysis, contract negotiation, grant writing, strategic planning, and project and program management. She is also certified in civil mediation, supporting parties seeking resolution outside traditional courtroom proceedings. Her professional and community leadership has included service with the New Orleans Paralegal Association, where she was among the organization’s top board leadership, as well as involvement with civic and community organizations. In 2023, Raychelle Harris was elected as a Democratic Party Executive Committee Member-at -Large, and appointed Parliamentarian of charter. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Raychelle is deeply committed to family, faith, service, and community empowerment. As a single mother, she worked diligently to provide opportunities for her two daughters while continuing to pursue her own education and professional growth. She is also a licensed minister and has served her church and community through organizational, compliance, and advisory work. Raychelle’s approach to her career is grounded in persistence, prayer, sacrifice, and a belief that hard work can create opportunities not only for oneself but also for others. Through Harris Legal Support Services, she brings together her legal, nonprofit, business, and community experience to help organizations and entrepreneurs navigate complex challenges and build stronger foundations for sustainable growth.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Raychelle

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to being relentless, prayerful, and unwilling to let obstacles define me. I learned early to embrace being the underdog and use it as motivation to pursue excellence. As a single mother, I balanced work, school, and raising my children, often studying alongside them at the library. That consistency and determination not only helped me achieve my goals but also showed my children the value of perseverance, discipline, and never giving up.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Keep GOD first.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering my industry is to make decisions today that you will be proud of ten years from now. When challenges arise, view them as opportunities for growth rather than obstacles, and always remember that you are on a stage—let your life be your greatest sermon.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges right now is the current economy and the limited funding available to nonprofits and small businesses. At the same time, there is an important opportunity to expand funding and resources for women, particularly minority women, who are launching nonprofits or starting businesses.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are faith, family, and tenacity. I believe in myself, my goals, and continuing forward even when obstacles arise, because challenges often mean I am on the right path. I want to live with purpose, fulfill what God has called me to do, and ultimately leave nothing undone when my time comes.
