Her Story

About Rayssa

Rayssa Goncalves brings more than ten years of experience in sales, including four consistent years in her current position at Statista. There she manages sales while collaborating with media outlets by promoting marketing and media kits to platforms including Forbes, Newsweek, and the Wall Street Journal. After earning her public relations degree, she gained experience at Rubenstein PR in the real estate sector and later at Hunter PR where she represented Diageo brands such as Ciroc and Don Julio, focusing on multicultural partnerships with Hispanic American, African American, and AAPI communities. Earlier in her career she worked in sales at a bridal shop during and after college. Rayssa values community above all and advises young professionals to try many roles and industries until the right fit emerges. She notes that sales involves working closely with people, which requires learning to separate business from personal feelings when facing rejection.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Rayssa

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Try everything, try different roles, try different industries. I had so many job titles over the past 10 years. I only really found myself because I kept pushing myself and trying new things until it clicks.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Working in sales means working with people, which can be the best but also the worst part because it's easy to take things personally if you get a no. With time you learn to keep the business just business.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Community is everything. It really does take a village. You need people and the support of other people, so community is key.
