Her Story
About Razia
I've been in the field of third-party administration for employer-sponsored plans for at least 25 to 30 years. I work for a company where we do the administration and help with employer-sponsored plans. I'm also an entrepreneur - I do real estate investment where we're building, fixing up, and flipping homes. My work requires about 25% travel depending on what the scope of the job is or the task at hand, and my entrepreneurship side also involves traveling for site visits and things like that. I have a good team around me, which makes a huge difference - if I didn't, I probably wouldn't have both jobs. What's inspired me to stay in this field is that it's constantly changing. The technology, the rules, the regulations, the laws - it's consistently changing, which I don't mind. I kind of find that as a challenge, and that's what keeps me engaged. It's not the same thing day in, day out. I'm a member of ASPA, the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries, and I do volunteer work with Hope Alive, where I sponsor some charity events.

01What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Interest rates are a challenge, especially on my personal entrepreneurship side. Finding good employees is hard - it's difficult to find somebody with really good work ethics. On the professional side, the changing technology, rules, regulations, and laws are challenging. It's consistently changing, which I don't mind. I kind of find that as a challenge, and that's what's inspired me to stay in it. It's not the same thing day in, day out - it's constantly changing and keeping up with the new technology.
