Her Story
About Rebecca
Rebecca Battista is a dedicated music educator and choral director with 28 years of experience, having entered the field in 1994. She currently serves as General Music Teacher and Choir Director for grades 6-8 at Brooks Middle School in Valley View School District 365U in Bolingbrook, Illinois. In this role she teaches general music, vocal music, and related subjects while contributing to curriculum development and vertical alignment across the district. She previously taught K-5 music and served as team leader from 2013 to 2025 before transitioning to the middle school. Rebecca also acts as the VVC Local 604 Union Specials and Careers Representative for AFT and maintains a private vocal and piano studio. She earned a B.A. in Music Education and Vocal Performance with a minor in psychology from North Central College. She holds master's degrees in special education, curriculum and instructional leadership from Concordia, and SEL, trauma, and resilience in education. Rebecca is a member of ACDA, NAfME (MENC), and her local union. She has received the Valley View Pillar Award and the Outstanding Music Educator Award from North Central College in 1994. She volunteers with Wellness House in Hinsdale, Illinois, Reclaim 13, and Relay for Life.
