Her Story

About Rebecca

Rebecca Engemann is a Commercial Account Manager II at HUB International Northwest LLC, where she leverages 14 years of insurance industry experience to manage complex, middle-market commercial lines. Her career began in personal lines at State Farm, where she advanced rapidly from a receptionist into a sales representative position before transitioning into commercial insurance with Alaska USA’s insurance firm, spending nearly five years progressing from an associate role into dedicated account management.

Today, Rebecca specializes in managing intricate client portfolios and providing responsive, detail-oriented risk management across technically demanding sectors, including commercial construction, marine risks, and North Slope energy service and support accounts. In her current position, she focuses on high-level client preservation, orchestrating massive annual marketing campaigns across 25+ global carrier markets, executing complex multi-tier policy stacking, and designing custom premium modeling tools to translate data into actionable insights for stakeholders.

Known for her ability to combine deep analytical depth with clear communication and a levelheaded approach, Rebecca effectively stabilizes volatile accounts and serves as a trusted technical mentor and Excel resource for junior staff. She holds her Property and Casualty and Life and Health insurance licenses alongside the prestigious Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation through the National Alliance.

Rebecca attributes her success to persistence, thorough technical research, and a commitment to continuous learning. By coupling her analytical mindset with deep resilience, she navigates fast-paced industry challenges with absolute professionalism. She places a high value on honesty, reliability, and compassion, treating every client portfolio with identical respect. Her immediate career goal is to transition her expertise into a Senior Account Management or a Learning and Development position. Looking long-term, she aims for operational leadership and workforce distribution roles where she can design highly effective onboarding programs, build efficient workflows, and protect service teams from operational burnout.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Rebecca

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to persistence, self-sufficiency, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuously learning from experienced professionals. Throughout my career, I have developed the ability to remain focused, adaptable, and determined, even when faced with challenges or setbacks. I have also learned the importance of separating my personal worth from the outcome of individual accounts or business situations, allowing me to approach each experience with professionalism, resilience, and a growth-oriented mindset.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received is to learn from experienced professionals, continuously expand my knowledge, and develop the confidence and ability to solve problems independently rather than relying on others for every answer. My own career experience has reinforced the importance of maintaining perspective and recognizing that not every business outcome is a reflection of my personal abilities or worth. This mindset has helped me remain resilient, adaptable, and focused on continuous growth throughout my career.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to learn from those who have years of experience and absorb as much knowledge as possible. Seek out experienced professionals who can provide guidance but also take the initiative to conduct your own research and due diligence. Develop the confidence to be self-sufficient, make informed decisions, and continuously build your knowledge while remaining open to learning from others.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The insurance industry requires constant attention to evolving regulations, detailed documentation, critical deadlines, and changing client needs, making adaptability and organization essential for success. At the same time, these demands create valuable opportunities for continued professional growth, particularly in senior account management, operations, and training. My immediate career goal is to advance into a Senior Account Manager role, where I can leverage my experience, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to the broader success of the organization.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my professional and personal life are honesty, reliability, compassion, adaptability, and a genuine commitment to providing dependable service to others. I believe in being trustworthy, following through on my commitments, and treating people with empathy and respect. I also value adaptability and a willingness to embrace change, which allows me to remain effective, supportive, and focused on delivering meaningful results in every situation.
