Rebecca George is a dedicated Dyslexia Therapist and Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) based in Nampa, Idaho. With over two decades of experience in dyslexia intervention and language-based learning support, Rebecca has committed her career to helping students and adults overcome reading and learning challenges. She is the founder of Detangling Dyslexia, where she provides individualized, evidence-based therapy both in-person and remotely, empowering clients to build confidence and achieve academic success. Before establishing her private practice, Rebecca served in multiple roles at Reading Write Alaska, including Dyslexia Therapist, Speech-Language Pathology Assistant, and Clinic Director. Her leadership and hands-on experience in these roles allowed her to develop a deep understanding of literacy development and instructional strategies for learners of all ages. She also has a strong background in ministry and community education, having served as Children’s Ministry Director at Bethel Church in Fairbanks, AK. Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Western Colorado University and completed her certification in Academic Language Therapy through the Multisensory Language Training Institute. Her work is grounded in a commitment to individualized support, lifelong learning, and advocacy for those with language-based learning differences, making her a trusted voice and leader in the field of dyslexia education.

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to being a mom of a dyslexic son, which helps me relate to my students. I’m constantly learning from them, and they’ve taught me patience and empathy.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to not try to be anyone else but myself—if I focus on being the best I can be, everything will work out.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this field is to not be discouraged by the hoops you have to jump through—put in the work, stay patient, and always remember why you chose this path.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is relocating to a new area and having to rebuild my professional network from scratch.

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in my work and personal life are integrity, honesty, empathy, and transparency. I also prioritize staying true to myself and remembering why I do this work, while enjoying reading, cooking, and spending time with my three grandchildren.
