Her Interview

Ten minutes with Rebecca

01What do you attribute your success to?

I didn't grow up with anyone in business or marketing so I had no one to guide me at forks in the road. In every position I've really done everything I can to understand everything about the customer base. That way in conversations I can base decisions on what I know from the customer and usually get everyone aligned. I also make a point to get to know everyone including the curmudgeons because they've got strengths and it makes me a better worker and human if I can speak to all forms of people. The hardest part about leaving roles has always been the people because I've made so many good friends.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Keep going! It's so easy to get caught up in the office politics but continue the race!

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

There's a big concern right now on AI taking over jobs. There's so much we can say and be concerned and nervous or we can approach it and say let me better myself and make sure I can utilize AI to do the things that would take time away from other projects. Where can I really shine and put my strengths into my position instead of having to do more tedious labor-intensive projects. Let AI take the lead on those double-checking my work of course but then also letting myself to really focus on the things that I love like strategy.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

AI is a big one. I work a lot globally so it's really intriguing to hear that other countries aren't as concerned. They're really looking at the United States to kind of make a splash in the AI department and kind of looking at us almost like a little bit of a test guinea pig. For us it's such a big factor but when I talk to people in Latin America or Europe or Asia they're not even losing sleep over it. We really just need to focus on the products and the strengths that we have within our company.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Most of my core values are focused on consistency in truth. I'm just a person who's never interested in anything that's going to distract from or tarnish anyone's reputation so I'm always looking to try to stay on the up and up. Innovation is really big. I think autonomy and support are important so people can look at something for what it could be and not just what it is and have the brain availability to dream a little bit instead of being pigeonholed into just doing what we have to do to make sure no one gets on our backs.
